Originally by: Anemos Thuella This is from a three day old newb so take it for what it's worth. . <snip> . This story is partly to amuse but also to make a point. And the reason it got so interesting was the potential of true loss (I'm nearly broke due to losing a couple of ships to the "Worlds collide"-mission).
I'm sorry for your loss but the way eve-online works now is fine by me. I don't subscribe to the risk vs. reward garbage some of these pirates use to justify themselves in forums as I don't see the risk in ganging up on newbie-frigates with Battleships or whatever they're flying. But I do like the element of potential "true loss".
Alot of these new MMOs are too watered down. In the old days good MUD GM:s went in and wrecked havoc once in while to keep things interesting. Targeting oldies especially to force them to rebuild their characters and in the process making room for newbies to prosper.
I.m.o. what CCP should do to stop newbie killings is to not send killmails, not lower sec-ranking for newbie killings and not give loot to plunder etc... Making newbie-killings a total non-event, thus giving the pirate no profit and nothing to brag about. That is also the reason I did not post the pirate's name so as not to add to his notoriety and encourage his behaviour. I think this would probably make newbie-killings not so attractive for pirates and they would hopefully hunt larger prey.
Also the GM:s should band together, hop into some badass ships and wreck havoc In 0.0 space (maybe disguised as an "Alien Invasion") every once in a while, keeping the storyline interesting, upsetting the balance in 0.0 and, in so doing, creating opportunities for new corps.
Excellent (& very amusing) post Anemos!
However, you won't get a lot of support here for your point of view, being a newbie like myself, as it seems you have to have a pretty picture in your avatar to get heard, yes, even in a newb forum it seems. But, I've already been told off once for having an opinion (it's called "trolling" if you're a newb apparently), so I won't belabour your or my points any further .
Hope to run into you in Caldari space some time to run some co-op missions or whatever doesn't put the fire*****er up some poor struggling newb's behind & counts as RL decent social behaviour!
